Temperature sensor structure

December 23 , 2022
What is the structure of the temperature sensor? Today, Komori will introduce the typical contact temperature sensor and non-contact temperature sensor as an example, including protective layer, sensing element and terminal.
1. Sensitive element: a device whose electrical characteristics respond to its own temperature changes. Good sensors have low specific heat capacity, small mass, strong and predictable sensitivity to temperature, and good long-term stability.
2. Terminal: conductive pad or conductor for the interface between the sensitive element and the external circuit. Terminals should have the lowest possible thermal conductivity and low resistance. In addition, the terminal can also be used as a supporting sensitive element, so it should have good mechanical strength and stability.
3, protective layer: can be shell or coating, used for physical isolation of the sensitive element and the external environment but at the same time with the measured object thermal coupling. Excellent protective layer must have low thermal resistance, low heat capacity, high insulation, as well as a certain mechanical strength. At the same time, it is environmentally stable and impermeable to moisture and other compounds that affect the sensor.
Non-contact temperature sensor is a kind of photothermal radiation sensor. Like the contact sensor, it also contains a sensitive element that can respond to its own temperature change. The difference is that the heat conduction mode from the measured object to the sensitive element is different: the contact sensor conducts heat by physical contact, while the non-contact type conducts heat by thermal radiation.
